Pydar is a new neighbourhood proposed for Truro in Cornwall. It aims to pioneer new ways of living, learning, working and playing; creating an inclusive and sustainable neighbourhood with community at its heart. The new neighbourhood will be home to multi-generational housing and a new learning and living environment. The development provides an opportunity to update and modernise the townscape in a sympathetic way that protects and improves existing green spaces and celebrates the links to the river that runs through the heart of the City.
The proposals increase biodiversity through enhancement of natural areas along the river, terraced gardens, planting of over 100 trees and enhancing a Viaduct area, which in total will deliver a biodiversity net gain of over 50%.
As well as its Design Award, Pydar achieved the Building with Nature National Award for 2023, presented at the Landscape Institutes Awards in November 2023.
