8 Hills Regional Park Spatial Framework

Award type: Policy Award

Award date: 03 April 2025

Applicant: The National Trust

BwN Assessor: Alister Scott

The 8 Hills Regional Park aims to create a framework for the landscape that sits between Bromsgrove and the West Midlands conurbation's urban fringe. The framework will enhance the benefits this landscape provides to people and nature by boosting the biodiversity and ecological connectivity of the area and increasing people's access to it.

Throughout the assessment and associated evidence, the theme of multifunctionality and connectivity is strongly presented, demonstrating a robust and holistic, green infrastructure-led approach which embodies the ethos of Building with Nature.

The Building with Nature Policy Award confirms that opportunities for multifunctionality have been successfully incorporated into the 8 Hills Regional Park Spatial Framework and it has adopted a context driven approach as evidenced in the Assessment and supporting information.

As a result, it is possible to say that the 8 Hills Regional Park Spatial Framework will, if implemented fully, deliver positive outcomes for people and wildlife.
