Pydar in Truro is the Building with Nature National Award Winner 2023
The 2023 Building with Nature National Award has been won by PRP Landscape for their design for a sustainable new neighbourhood for Truro in Cornwall.
The proposals for Pydar aim to pioneer new ways of living, learning, working and playing; creating an inclusive and sustainable neighbourhood with community at its heart. The new neighbourhood will be home to multi-generational housing and a new learning and living environment. The proposals increase biodiversity through enhancement of natural areas along the river, terraced gardens, planting of over 100 trees and enhancing a Viaduct area, which in total will deliver a biodiversity net gain of over 50%.
Pydar and PRP Landscape Team were announced as the winners of the BwN National Award at the 30th Landscape Institute Awards in London on 3rd November 2023. PRP also won the LI Award for Excellence in Collaboration, Engagement and Influence for Dementia Friendly Design.
Building with Nature is a sponsor of the Landscape Institute Annual Awards, which recognise and celebrate excellence in the landscape profession and industry to bring forward world changing places for people and wildlife, and inspiring the next generation of landscape architects into the profession.
The design for Pydar achieved a Building with Nature Design Award in July 2021. You can learn more about the project here.
